WalkSafe walkways

Gable recognises through ever-increasing legislation that height safety is of paramount importance within industry. In working to provide the complete range of roof access solutions, Gable is pleased to offer Latchways WalkSafe®.

 

In conjunction with a ManSafe fall protection system, a designated walkway system should be specified. WalkSafe walkway provides a level anti-slip surface, marking a designated route for workers to follow. WalkSafe can be affixed to all major roof types including standing-seam, composite, built-up-on-site, secret-fix and membrane and does not damage the integrity of the roof or compromise the guarantee. Levelling kits and steps are available to provide access across most roof inclines.

 

WalkSafe is manufactured from recycled PVCu and is designed to provide a levelled, anti-slip, delineated walkway surface which affixes to the roofing system.

 

The WalkSafe system aids compliance with the Work at Height Regulations, CDM and Booklet HSG 33 ‘Health and Safety in Roof Work’ which gives extensive guidance on how to work safely on roofs.

WalkSafe can provide a demarcation route which guides a workers movement in areas where there are potential fall hazards, whilst eliminating wear and tear on the roofing systems in heavily trafficked areas.

 

WalkSafe fall proof covers

Where access is needed onto a fragile roof it is necessary to take protective measures. If it is not appropriate to use cable fall arrest systems, the installation of WalkSafe fall proof covers provides passive collective protection whilst also eliminating the fall hazard in designated areas.

 

The WalkSafe fall proof covers are easily installed and neither training nor specialist PPE are required to use the system, thus eliminating the possibility of user error. They can be used adjacent to WalkSafe walkways on flat or pitched fragile roofs and can work independently of—or ideally in conjunction with—other fall protection solutions also available from Gable.

 

Constructed on a 50 mm bearer—to the same design as the WalkSafe walkways, but with wider spacings—the WalkSafe fall proof covers feature a contrasting red strip to indicate the start of a fragile surface; highlighting to system users the need for care and attention whilst working in these areas.
